K M Patel Institute of Physiotherapy a constituent of Bhaikaka University celebrated International Physiotherapy Day on 8th Sept, 2021 with the theme “Rehabilitation and Long COVID”, which revolves around bringing up awareness about signs and symptoms of post covid and how physiotherapy plays a significant role in Long COVID rehabilitation. In the morning at the institute, The Principal, Dr. R Harihara Prakash lauded the dedication and commitment of all doctors, caregivers and students. Rangoli and E-poster competition was also organized. Earlier, a Community Camp was held on 7th September in rural area, Ghunteli of Anand. Around 55 patients were assessed and treated. Awareness about how to combat post covid symptoms was delivered with demonstration and lecture sessions.
The orientation program for fellowship program on Onco-Rehabilitation and Cardiac rehabilitation was conducted for three days from 21/06/2021 to 23/06/2021 via online (ZOOM platform) in the afternoon session between 3:00pm to 5:00pm.
On the first day, Dr. Utapala Kharod, Provost, Bhaikaka University gave his inaugural speech. Followed by that Dr. R. Harihara Prakash had talked to fellows regarding the fellowship program introduction & objectives and its need in the current era. Virtual tour of Charutar Arogya Mandal, Cancer and Cardiac centre of our campus was done by Mr. Nigam from the HR department. The course co-coordinators of both courses introduced the team members to the fellows. Dr. Manish Tiwari, Cardiac surgeon and Dr. Ragunandan, Oncosurgeon had given talks on importance of rehabilitation in cardiology and oncology respectively.
On day 2, Mr. Nilang orientated the fellows for IT learning tools – hands on experience which was followed by a talk by Dr. Shweta Parikh wherein she briefed about evidence based practice and its importance. Day 2 ended with a motivational session on professionalism & ethics by Principal Dr. R. Harihara Prakash.
Day 3 was started with a talk by Dr. Daxa Mishra and Dr. Nirav Vaghela on interdisciplinary practices and literature search respectively. At the end, Dr. Ashish and Dr. Jigar talked about the course modules and its contents in brief.
After that, feedback on orientation programs were taken from fellows which were responded by each candidate & mentioned that the entire program was informative, well organized as well as satisfactory for all of them. Also, few fellows have mentioned that offline sessions can be more days.
