K M Patel Institute of Physiotherapy (KMPIP), a unit of the Charutar Arogya Mandal, was started in 1999. It offers 30 seats for its 4.5 years Bachelor of Physical Therapy (BPT) course and six seats for the two year Master of Physical Therapy (MPT) course. K M Patel Institute is well supported with well qualified and experienced physiotherapy faculty from diversified states and are qualified with various specialties viz Musculoskeletal, Neurological, Cardiorespiratory and Intensive Care, Pediatrics and Women's Health, Manual Therapies, Sports and Community Rehabilitation, Etc.
The faculty at KMPIP regularly participate in various seminars and conferences to keep themselves abreast of the latest developments in the field. All the senior faculty have been trained for medical education to update themselves with the latest teaching methodology. Its students are actively involved in organising events like 'Physio Week' and 'Conference of the Physiotherapy College Students of Gujarat' which leads to their holistic development and not just academic. Apart from having an orthotic workshop, KMPIP also has an occupational therapist and a special educator on board to provide complete rehabilitation to the patients.
KMPIP runs a full-fledged OPD with ultra-modern, highly sophisticated and state of the art equipments. It has computerized EMG/NCS equipment, which is a highly valuable tool in diagnosing the neurological problems. It also has a special OPD dedicated to the patients with neurological disabilities and has a modern whole body gym with professional trainers. The Institute provides 24x7 physiotherapy services to the critical care units/ICUs/cardiac ICU and caters to the needs of inpatients who are admitted to Shree Krishna Hospital (SKH).
KMPIP also runs an orthotic workshop, effectively contributing to complete rehabilitation. The institute also runs a certificate course on splinting and offers an observership in EMG- NCS too. It also collaborates with other departments of the Pramukhswami Medical College and SKH in various research activities apart from conducting those of its own.
